The Raigad Fort was made capital of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1674 when he was crowned as the King of a Maratha Kingdom which later developed into the Maratha Empire.
The Raigad Fort is 2,700 ft above the sea level.
Difficulty level is Medium. It will take approximately 2 hours to reach to the top for a beginner.
For an experienced person it should take hardly one hour.
The Architecture of the Fort was done by Hiroji Indulkar and all we can sa it is the best one till now.
Approximately there are 1737 steps leading to the Raigad Fort.
Simply an amazing place more better if done in night, for those who could not climb that high, there is an alternate option of rope way as well which hardly takes about 5 minutes.
Perhaps if you take a guide along with you to know the history and about the places you may get goosebumps and also feel proud when you will come to know about the history of Maratha warriors.
You may also find various reptiles on the fort like snakes or monitor lizards.

There is a deep valley down this point of the fort. Criminals used to be pushed into the valley for the death sentence.
Waghya Which simply means Tiger in Marathi was the pet dog of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a.nd was known for his loyalty.A statue was put up on a pedestal next to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharahtomb at Raigad Fort.
the, British Officer Colonel Prather attacked Raigad Fort in 1818 and took the charge of fort during British rule in India. Queen’s palace was destroyed by them during the attack. Now you can see the only the Queen’s Palaces.
The Raj Darbar:
The Raj Darbar is To the extreme north of the peak. It is the place where all the gatherings and meetings used to take.
